The international financial services provider Admiral Group is celebrating its 20^th anniversary as a publicly listed company on the London Stock Exchange.

Admiral floated on the London Stock Exchange in September 2004 with a market capitalisation of £711 million. In 2004 Admiral was a UK motor insurer and had just reached the 1 million customer milestone and employed 1,500 colleagues based in South Wales. After just over three years listed on the London Stock Exchange, the Group became one of the UK’s most highly capitalised blue-chip businesses and joined the FTSE 100 in December 2007.

Throughout its history, the company has embraced change and opportunities to do things differently to deliver better outcomes for its customers¹. Headquartered in Cardiff, the Group remains the only Welsh FTSE 100 company and has grown into an established multinational and multi-product insurer serving over 10 million customers in five countries with approximately 13,000 colleagues.

Every year since listing, Admiral has awarded colleagues free shares through a share incentive plan (SIP) so that they can benefit from the success of the business and remain focused on doing the right thing for customers. A colleague who had worked at Admiral continuously for the last 20 years would have received over £64,000 in free shares.

To celebrate its 20th anniversary as a listed business, Admiral Group closed the market during an event held at the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday 24^th September.
